Now that your UC application is submitted, there are a few points to note in December/2024 and January/2025. If applicable and required by a major/department on a UC campus, updates and supplemental materials must be provided as part of the comprehensive review process. Fail to do so or by the specified deadline may result in application cancellation.

  • Review your UC application for updates - - PART I - - If you see changes that must be made at this point, you will notify the campus(es) to which you've applied (University of California, 2024). While it's required to report changes, such as academics, UC does not guarantee that a campus can or will review the application for a second read.

UC Berkeley, Santa Barbara, and San Diego will not accept post-submission updates.

  • Review your UC application for updates - - PART II - - Personal information updates such as name, email or mailing address is through the UC application portal. There are absolutely NO CHANGES in the PIQs and the Activities & Awards sections.

  • Review your UC application for updates - - PART III - - for major change requests, contact your school counselor or privately hired college counselor for a discussion + instructions prior to any changes.

  • Certain majors require submission of supplemental materials which include but not limited to:

    • A separate personal statement

    • Letters of recommendation

    • An audition or video

    • A portfolio

    • Interviews

To be considered for the program, applicants must submit the supplemental materials before the specified deadlines. Check with your campus(s) or dept(s) for additional information and if applicable.

  • Pay attention to the campus(es) to which you've applied for Campus Application Portal (CAP) Set-up instructions between December and January. This process is a part of communication between the applicant and admission office and a site in which an admission decision will be released. Check your CAP regularly for any requested information in these two months.

  • Plagiarism & Authenticity Check - - Applicants are notified in January with two weeks to respond from the notification date if a potential plagiarism case is detected. For a decision on the authenticity of the writing portion(s), the applicant's response will be shared & reviewed by the campus(es) to which you've applied.

  • Document Verification (DV) - - Applicants are notify between mid-December and January by postal mail, email or text message to provide original documentation to verify an item or part of the UC application, which may include but not limited to academic history, honors and awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and community service, special program participation, employment, or information contained in the personal insight responses. All instructions must be followed with relevant/supporting documents for additional reviews. The deadline for DV is the last day of January.

I hope everyone had a smooth submission and that the content of the UC application is impeccable. All you need to do now is to check your email or any other communication channels coming from the UC and its campus(es) for further instructions & information.
